Once the provider is selected, the parent and provider must complete an application jointly. A legally exempt specialist of our employees will review the application with you. Legally exempt suppliers must renew or “re-register” once a year. Unless you have changes to the care you provide, such as the place of care, changes in adults living in the household, new criminal convictions, etc., you do not need to complete the registration form more than once a year. Only two (2) unrelated children can be cared for. Legislated exempt programs are not subject to health, safety and education standards unless they care for children who receive government child care subsidies. You can care for up to 2 full-time unrelated children in your home. If you want to care for more than 2 children, you must first become a registered or licensed home child care provider. As a home child care provider, you can have up to 6 children under the age of 5 and 2 other school-aged children. As a home child care provider, you can have up to 12 children under the age of 5 and 4 other school-aged children.
